Dear Ms. Hysert,

On behalf of Discovery House, we would like to thank Calgary Women in Energy (CWIE) for supporting us for the past four (4) years through its annual golf tournament raising a total of $173,000 for our programs and services.

The relationship Discovery House has developed with CWIE and its members has meant a great deal to us. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the strong, ambitious women of CWIE, who embody community leadership. The members of CWIE have truly made an impact on ending domestic violence and Discovery House looks forward to collaborating more in the future.

Thanks to CWIE's substantial contribution of $173,000, nine (9) families in Discovery House's Community Housing Program (CHP) were supported to help our women and children achieve their goals together with guidance from our specialized staff while leaving their abuser.

Family violence knows no boundaries; it touches women from all walks of life. One of our current clients, Hannah, is a perfect example of a woman who appeared to living an ideal life. Yet, behind the scenes, Hannah faced the same reality that one in four Canadian women experience that is intimate partner violence.

Hannah, a university educated, stable employed mother of two, became a client of our Community Housing Program to flee her abusive partner. With the help of dedicated staff and innovative programming at Discovery House, Hannah as begun to write the next chapter of her life; one filled with hope, bravery and strength.

This is just one of the many stories CWIE and Discovery House has helped rewrite.

Once again, thank you CWIE for your time, friendship and support. Your love of humanity has helped our women and children further understand what it means to be human.
