Creator of Calgaryism

A born and raised Calgarian, I have a strong affinity for Calgary, Alberta and Canada. On a daily basis I am helping Calgarians accomplish their real estate goals with RE/MAX, showcasing the best Calgary has to offer with Calgaryism & raising awareness about energy issues - three of my biggest passions!

Deeply passionate about promoting energy literacy and engaging in constructive dialogue, I advocate for Canadian prosperity and rational decision making about our valuable energy and resource sectors. As the founder of Canada Action, I am determined to help Alberta overcome current challenges it is facing in the energy sector.

I am a believer in giving back and in community engagement. I am deeply committed to several local charitable organizations that focus on children and youth. Elected by my colleagues, I have sat on two Boards of Governors at the Calgary Real Estate Board and am a former instructor for the Alberta Real Estate Association.

SIGRID ROBERTSON, B.Nat.Res.Mgt. & CWIE MEMBER

Sigrid Robertson is a Planner with Applied Aquatic Research/AAR Environmental Services, a Calgary-based consultancy with over 20 years of experience helping oil and gas producers identify, plan for and manage environmental risk. Her team of environmental specialists assist clients in all stages of project development, from initial scoping and feasibility assessments, right through to reclamation.

Originally from Australia, Sigrid has worked on large projects in Asia, Australia, and North America, and brings to AAR an inside perspective on the practical constraints of working in remote industrial production systems. She enjoys being able to showcase examples of industry environmental leadership, as demonstrated by her reclamation feature on the CTV mini-series “Mining Your Future”, and has a solid history of helping companies improve their compliance and standing with regulators.

Abstract – Environmental Management Done Right

Every day, the media presents us with plenty of examples of environmental management done wrong. But how do you do it right? What is involved in identifying & managing environmental risks for an oil and gas project, who do you need to talk to, and when should you start?

Applied Aquatic Research/AAR Environmental Services has over 20 years of experience helping clients successfully manage environmental issues for their projects. When done correctly, environmental management can be integrated with everyday operations, and even be used to improve relationships with stakeholders. In this presentation, Sigrid Robertson will give an overview of the regulatory framework for oil and gas projects in Alberta, the steps involved in obtaining environmental approval for a project, and tips to help with some commonly encountered challenges.
