Turnarounds & Shutdowns – An Overview for Stakeholders

Ron Bettin & Raine Devlin will provide an overview of what a typical Oil & Gas Turnaround or Shutdown is, and the important factors that stakeholders should be aware of. This includes:

• Why turnarounds and shutdowns are required.
• What happens during a shutdown event.
• Why these projects are so complicated.
• Overview of a typical stage gate plan looks like.
• Significant activities that vendors, contractors and stakeholders should be aware of.
• How vendors, contractors and stakeholders can contribute to a successful turnaround or shutdown project.

Ron Bettin, President & Principal Consultant, Adduco

Ron is a respected industry executive and business leader. With a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, he is the co-founder of several companies, including two energy companies. Cross-functional business and technology understanding gives Ron a unique perspective to help companies grow and transform. As a leader, Ron provides strategic business and project management skills to fill leadership gaps from small start-ups to large organizations.

Ron is a graduate of Queen’s University Executive MBA program, SAIT’s Industrial Engineering Technology (Operations Management), and a Second-Class Power Engineer. He has studied at the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai and is a Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner.

Raine is a Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert. She is adept in contract management, vendor relations, and spend analysis, with extensive experience in operations, capital, and turnaround projects. Raine’s expertise encompasses managing the entire contract lifecycle, from requests for proposals and bid evaluations to negotiation and database management.

Raine is a graduate of the University of Calgary with a BA in Economics, and a Supply Chain Management Professional certified by Supply Chain Management Association of Canada.
